It WAS the 6th annual...

LAUREL HIGHLANDS BLUEGRASS MUSIC FESTIVAL!

June 20-21, 2008
Route 271, Waterford, Just 5 Miles North of Ligonier, PA

    WOW, ANOTHER GREAT ONE!

It's a wrap! And by all accounts, #6 was a winner! The weather was great (except for late Saturday night), the bands were amazing, the banjo workshop was full, and the crowd was enthusiastic and appreciative. Lots of great comments about the new landscaping around the stage (thanks High Turr Farms Landscaping) and other site improvements.

The dinners were a rousing success, as were the kids' activities, and "cow plop" contest. The craft vendors had some wonderful items. Dan Schall was back on Sunday morning, providing his musical ministry that features bluegrass and country gospel favorites.

Master wood carver / chain saw artist Mark Keyser was on hand Thursday through Saturday, demonstrating his amazing craftsmanship. While here, he created two large bear statues which were then raffled off to help the fire department. Big thanks, Mark! And thanks to everyone who donated raffle items.

Hmmm... we may just have to do this again next year. Mark your calendar for June 19-20, 2009!

    ON STAGE...
Both the Friday evening and Saturday's lineups were filled with top-notch national, regional and local bluegrass performers. GREAT music was provided by:

+ Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper (IBMA award winners)
+ The Jeanette Williams Band (Incredible singer from Virginia -- for both days!)
+ Bill Yates & The Country Gentlemen Tribute Band (Bluegrass legend!)
+ Mountain Therapy (You asked for them -- they came back)
+ Blue Shades (Crowd pleasing local favorites)
+ Poverty Hollow (Hot new band that's quickly making a name for itself)
+ Hidden Drive (Great regional band)
+ New Generation (A look at bluegrass music's future -- today)

Our ol' buddy John Trout from WYEP-FM's "Traditional Ties" show and Ligonier's Jeff Bell once again served as emcees, both keeping the show on schedule and adding that "certain something" to the festivities. (Whatever that may be.) First class sound was provided by Don, Ginger, and Steve of Soaring Eagle Productions, Bedford, PA. Super job, folks!

    BIG THANKS FROM THE FIREMEN

Just a reminder... the festival benefits the Ligonier Township Volunteer Fire Department, Station #44. Their hard work, coupled with your support for them and the music, makes this a "win-win" for everybody. They deeply appreciate your attendance and your spreading the word about the festival.
